Many of you will be familiar with the Aviva Irl Merrion Managed Fund, which has been available on Aviva’s pensions platform since October 2004. The fund has now been rebranded and renamed as the Merrion Multi Asset 70 Fund¹ and we are delighted to announce that it’s now open on our savings and investment products from the first week of June 2015. This name change is to reflect the fact that the fund has been and will continue to be a multi asset offering.                          

What is the Fund? 

The fund will continue to be an actively managed global multi-asset (equities, bonds, property, alternatives and cash) fund that takes a strategic view that a 60-80% allocation to growth assets is most appropriate for investors with a medium-long term (> 5 years) investment time horizon. The fund’s success is based on Merrion’s well established, robust and proven three pillar investment process – Macro, Valuation and Technical Analysis.

What are the fund’s key selling points?

Strong performance:

• The fund is the Number 1 performing multi-asset fund in the Irish market over the last 20 years(Source: MoneyMate 31.03.15)².  
• The fund has out-performed the major passive indices (MSCI US Index, MSCI Europe Index, Euro Govt Bond Index and Gold) since its inception over 20 years ago3.
• The fund has consistently beaten the Aon Hewitt Multi Asset Fund Survey peer group average over the past 1,3,5,10 and 15 years.
• Since launch in October 1993 through to end of March 2015, Merrion’s multi asset fund has grown by 1036%, over double the peer group average which returned 471%⁴

Diversification:  The fund provides investors with significant diversification by asset class, region, sector and individual securities. The fund is not tied to a single investment strategy such as value or growth.
